Just Because I Signed Up for A Party….

Over the past week or so since the Blogher conference, I’ve noticed I’ve been added to several mailing lists. I thought to myself, maybe, I forgot I had requested to be on their mailing lists in my sleep deprived state.

Then, today I received one email that stood out:

You’ve been signed up for the  X newsletter because you attended the Y party.

Hmmmm…I was suppose to go to Y party but I wasn’t able to attend  because of other obligations. Therefore, I know I did not sign up for this party.

Just because I attended a party or a event you sponsored, does not mean I want to be signed up for your newsletter!

Just because I gave you a business card does not mean I want signed up for your newsletter. The same applies for the business cards I received. I’m sure you don’t want me to sign ya’ll up for my newsletter without permission.

If I signed up to be on your newsletter, be sure to add me to your newsletter.  If I didn’t, please don’t make me delete your email and unsubscribe from a newsletter I never requested to be on.

  1. Oh Em Gee. Me too! I am SICK of it. I thought last years’ emails were insane, but this year is beyond out of control. I WILL be posting about the events I attended, the swag I received, but stop shoving your emails and newsletters in my inbox.
